It’s know as the “Egg Basket of the Wold” due to it’s egg industry of the early 1900s. Petaluma is in Sonoma County, north of San Francisco and offers close proximity to Napa wineries, San Francisco, and the Pacific coast.
Petaluma is foodie-friendly with great restaurants in the historical downtown. We sampled a pastry at Della Fattoria, which has been rated one of the best bakeries in the country for many years. We dined at Wild Goat Bistro and loved it, though we were packed in like sardines. We visited the Petaluma Creamery and walked away with lovely aged cheddar, butter and tasty ice cream. While at the coast, we had fresh seafood at Spud Point Crab House on Bodega Bay.
To counter all of that food, we hiked at Helen Putnam Park for nice views of the hills, valleys, and farms of Petaluma. We also hiked along the shoreline cliffs at Bodega Bay. What a stunning view, as shown in feature image and below.
Brian visited Bennett and Paloma wineries, enough to stock the coach with a few bottles.
The KOA campground was very nice and typical KOA with pool, playgrounds, dog park, pillow style trampoline and numerous cabins. The site we rented backed up to a cattle farm and it was fragrant at times.

I look forward to shooting the Milky Way when it becomes visible later this month, so I am practicing with a new lens that Brian gifted me. So far, I am really pleased with the Rokinon f 2.8/ 14 mm. Test pic below was taken around 9 pm, a couple hours after sunset in Petaluma. I have never shot the Milky Way so wish me luck!

That’s a wrap from Petaluma,
Brian and Betty
