Taking it Easy in Charlotte, North Carolina

We traveled to Charlotte, North Carolina for an Eagles concert. The Doobie Brothers were the opening act. We enjoyed the concert from beginning to end. Both bands sounded great.

Charlotte is called “The Queen City”, named after Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz, who had become the queen consort of Great Britain and Ireland in 1761

We took a historical golf cart tour to learn a little about the city and see the sights.

We found the downtown area to be clean and walkable. Charlotte is teeming with delectable restaurants, museums and sports arenas. It’s also the home of a convention center and the Nascar Hall of Fame. Being the second largest financial center in the US, there were loads of banks.

Charlotte is divided into four quadrants/wards. Throughout the city there are maps identifying the wards with color-coding. Street signs are also color-coded with crowns to reflect the ward.

The city center hosts the Four Corner Statues which symbolize factors that have contributed to the city’s historic growth (commerce, industry, and transportation) while the fourth statue represents the future.

Cheers from the Queen City,

Betty and Brian
