We spent the latter part of our trip cruising to Geiranger, Alesund, Flam and Bergen. Like Iceland and Faroe Islands, the air was clean and crisp and the waters were sparkling clear.
We found the Norwegians to be generally reserved. They say that if you want to make a friend the best way is to take a hike with them and plan on 6-8 hours.
Gerainger, Alesund and Flam were all small fishing villages that are at the end of picturesque fjords. We enjoyed each village with walking or bus tours. Gerainger and Flam had populations <500 each.

We spent a couple days in Bergen, a bustling old city with the fish market in the center. We took the Floibanen funicular to the top of Mount Floyen for a spectacular city view. We took a bus tour and then explored the city on foot.
We disembarked in Bergen and caught the Bergen rail to Oslo. The 7 hour rail trip runs over the highlands winding along rivers, waterfalls, lakes, mountains and crosses the Hardangervidda National Park. We had sun all day which made for a perfect ride through stunning scenery. Oslo is a modern, major city and we spend one night there.
That’s a wrap from Norway,
Betty & Brian
