Sevierville is called the gateway to the Smoky Mountains. The Smoky Mountains, aptly named for the blue mist that is ever present in the valleys and mountains, are part of the Appalachian mountains and were originally settled by the Cherokee.
In spite of cool and rainy weather, we were able to do some hiking in the beautiful Smoky Mountain National Park. This park is the most visited national park in the United States. Parts of the Appalachian Trail run through it. When in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, we hiked parts of the Appalachian Trail often, so if was fun to do part here.
Pictures below are from our hikes. We appreciated hiking up to Clingmans Dome, the highest mountain in the Smokies, with an altitude of 6,643 ft. This was a bit challenging as Brian had a cold and I have not been exercising enough. We felt fortunate to keep pace with a sweet woman in a wheel chair who was pushed up the path by her husband.
The Two River Landing RV Resort is a nice resort with riverfront sites on the French Broad River. Brian and I are water people through and through, so this site was a treat for us. The sunset picture was taken from the shore at our site. Deer and blue heron seem to like this location.

Other than hiking, we toured Gatlinburg and found it’s a big attraction for families with children. On Saturday I shopped the outlet malls and Brian watched college football. We are settling in and figuring it out.
That is a wrap from Sevierville,
Brian and Betty
