Turks and Caicos: Grand Turk

The Turks and Caicos Islands are an Overseas British Territory located in the Atlantic Ocean, southeast of the Bahama Islands. English is the language spoken, US dollars are the the official currency and the time zone is ISLAND time.

We stayed at the Bohio dive resort on Grand Turk and our routine is pretty basic: eat, dive, sleep, repeat.

It’s been 25 years since we started scuba diving and it’s a magnificent wonder each and every trip, each and every dive. We found the reefs to be healthy and loaded with corals, fish and creatures of all sorts. Lucky, lucky us.

Our dive boat was named the Emerald Escape and the crew included Dive Master Derrick and his assistant Kelly…

On the island there are plenty of wild and wandering donkeys, cats, dogs and the occasional horse.

We were with our friends John and Lisa who always keep us laughing on the surface and under water.

While not diving we spent time reading in the beach hammocks, cruising around on the rental golf cart, listening to local musicians as well as visiting Irish folk musicians.

Sight seeing included visiting the lighthouse park and old salt ponds.

The beach and sunsets on Grand Turk did not disappoint.

That’s a wrap from Turks and Caicos,

Betty and Brian
