San José del Cabo/The Cape of St. Joseph

November 2022

San Jose del Cabo is a colonial town in the Baja Peninsula of Mexico that was built around 1730. San Jose del Cabo is just northeast of Cabo San Lucas. Los Cabos/The Capes refers to San Jose del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas together.

In November we spent some time in San Jose with our daughter and her boyfriend, Bryan. We spent our days touring and or lounging/reading at the pools/beach. Steph and Bryan put in their work days and joined us when their work was done.

Los Cabos is know for fishing, golden sandy beaches, strong undertows, whales galore, decadent golf and amazing restaurants.

The historic center of San Jose includes a large plaza, great shopping and a thriving art district.

We stayed at the Westin Los Cabos Resort Villas. It was a stand-alone resort on the beach which was a 10 minute drive from the center of San Jose and 15 minutes from Cabo San Lucas. The amenities were nice and we played a little pickleball ( bring your own paddle). I took the opportunity to practice wave and water photography along the shore.

Brian and I were pleased to take a day trip to La Paz. La Paz is the capital of the Baja Peninsula with a seaside promenade lined with shops and eateries. It’s less developed and more affordable than Los Cabos area.

By chance, we discovered that friends from northern Michigan were in the area for a wedding. Gracias social media. We met up and shared a meal and laughs. What a wonderfully small world we live in.

Adios Amigos,

Betty & Brian
